The A2 category of driving license permits you to operate motorcycles without sidecars, with the maximum engine output of 35 kW. The power/weight ratio of the vehicle must not exceed 0.2kW/kg.
This driving license was created to allow you to obtain your small motorcycle driving licence early and then progress to the A2 licence with a higher engine power.
Motorcycles and scootersThe second level of motorcycle licence is the driving licence category A2. It permits you to drive small motorcycles (up to 50cc) and mopeds with a maximum cubic capacity of 125cc. The course is designed to allow you to gradually ascend the ladder of power and cautiously fantasize about a larger one. The test is a little more difficult than that of the first category, and you need to attend more theory lessons for it.
The category A2 driving licence is valid until you reach the age of 24. It may be used alongside a car driving licence category A1 or as a part of a provisional category B driver's license. If you are over 24 years old,, you need a full category A driving license to drive motorcycles with more than 35 kW.
You can get a group A1 driving licence at the age of 16 (in Denmark and Malta, 15 and in Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia 14). Once you reach the age of 16 you will need to take the A2 category motorbike test. You must pass the test prior to turning 18. After two years, you can move to category A.
After passing the test for category A2, you're allowed to operate a motorcycle, either with or without sidecar, and vehicles with up to 35 kW of power. The vehicles must also have a power/weight ratio of no greater than 0.2 kg/kW and cannot be made from a vehicle that has twice the power of the maximum.
If you have passed a two-part moped or motorcycle test in a lower category as of the 1st July 1996 then you are able to skip the theory test and take the practical exam. You can ride a smaller moped or scooter with L plates, or take the new prawo jazdy am licence, which will enable you to ride 50cc bikes with a maximum speed of 45mph. The Prawo Jazdy am licence is only valid if you've passed your theory test and attended nine hours of instruction divided into theory and practical lessons at an instructor at a driving school.
Four-wheeled vehicles
This category covers all motor vehicles with four wheels that aren'prawo jazdy kat t buses or passenger vehicles. This category also includes utility vehicles like pickups vans, panels, and pickups. Campers, motorhomes and lorries are also included. This category also includes vehicles like hearses, ambulances, and carryalls designed to carry eight or more passengers or have a mass maximum of 750kg or greater. A1 drivers are able to drive vehicles of this kind with a trailer weighting up to 775kg.
To operate a vehicle in this category, you need to have passed the theory test. To pass you must attend 12 lessons lasting 90 minutes of the basic content and four additional lessons of 90 minutes for the additional (category A2). The theoretical tests are a pass mark of 70%.
After passing the theory exam, you will be required to take a practical driving examination on both private and public roads. If you pass both of these tests, you will be issued with an application for a driving license. This request should be submitted to the local authorities three years after passing your practical test.
Once you have passed your driving test, it's possible to drive vehicles in the category A2. In some countries, if you have had an full A1 licence for two years, you will not need to pass an additional driving test to obtain an A2 licence that allows you to drive motorbikes with up to 35 kW. This allows you to learn on less powerful two-wheelers prior to upgrading to more powerful machines.
If you hold a category A2 driving licence you are also able to drive tricycles if it has an engine capacity of up to 125cc and an output of no more than 11 kW. This category was previously part of the A licence. Drivers who had the full category B license before the 19th of January, 2013 were entitled to ride mopeds, too and will continue to have this privilege.
Motor vehicles with five or more wheels
This category includes vehicles with motors that are designed to be used on the roads to transport passengers or goods. These vehicles must include at least two or three wheels that are in contact with ground as well as a driver's chair or saddle and a motor that can be able to travel at speeds of 20 miles an hour or more. These vehicles are equipped with brakes and a steering wheel. These vehicles can also be steered and can be driven in reverse. In certain instances, these vehicles have a hood or another covering that can be opened. Historically, this classification has been applied to trucks (van, mini-van panel, pickup, sport utility) and buses that carry 16 or more passengers. A slightly different definition is used by the federal government, which sets uniform standards for licensing of commercial vehicle drivers. This definition excludes vehicles that weigh 26,001 pounds or more.

Some people decide to get an operator's license. This is valid for vehicles with up to 8 seats and a maximum mass of 3,500kg. Drivers who have an operator license are also permitted to tow trailers that weigh up to 750kg MAM. They can also operate a tractor or construction machine with a trailer of up to 3,500kg MAM.
NHTSA must keep its guidelines current as the designs of various kinds of two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicle continue to change. Motor vehicles that have trailers
The A2 category includes motorized vehicles with trailers. These are not pulled by drivers, but rather towed by larger vehicles such as cars. For example, a tractor pulling trailers falls under this category, as well as small trucks that have been designed for carrying loads, such as those used by painters or plumbers to carry tools and supplies to their work sites. The maximum authorised mass (MAM) for this category is 8,250kg.
To drive a vehicle in this class you must have passed the theory test for category A1 or obtained a driving licence by direct entry. You may also be required to pass a practical driving test based on the type vehicle you want to drive.
The license you get for category A2 is valid for three years starting from the date you take your theory exam. To keep it valid, you must renew it prior to the expiration date.
In addition to the categories listed above, you can obtain a license to drive other vehicles with special requirements. You need a special license to drive a large vehicle (category C) that requires you to be aware of the specific rules for the transport of dangerous items.
The code 96 is added to your category B driving licence after you have passed both the theory and practical test but your vehicle and trailer aren't eligible for a category C licence. The code 96 will be added to your driving license category B if you've passed both the practical and theory tests however your trailer or vehicle does not meet the requirements for an a Category C license.
You must have a valid driving license in category B for at least two years, and pass both a theory and a practical test. You must also have attended an specialized course and completed additional training to be qualified for this. This course is called the driver's training course.
