Driving License Category A2
The A2 category of driving licence permits you to operate motorcycles without sidecars with the maximum engine output of 35 kW. The power/weight ratio of the vehicle cannot exceed 0.2kW/kg.
The step-by-step construction of this driving licence allows you to get your first motorcycle driving licence early and then gradually move up to higher engine power with the A2 licence.
Scooters and motorcycles
Driving license category A2 is the second stage of motorcycle driving licence. It allows you to drive mopeds and small motorcycles of up to 50cc. The class is intended to let you slowly climb the ladder of engine power, and then ponder an even bigger one. The test is more challenging and requires more understanding.
The category A2 driving licence is valid until you reach the age of 24. It may be used alongside a car driving licence category A1 or as a part of a provisional category B driver's licence. If you are over 24 years old, however a full category

You can obtain a group A1 driving licence at the age of 16 (in Denmark and Malta, 15 and in Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Italy, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia, 14). When you reach the age of 16 years old, you will need to pass the motorbike test under the category A2. You must pass the test prior to turning 18. After two years, you can change to the category A.
After passing the test in the category A2 you can drive a motorcycle with or without a sidecar, and three-wheeled vehicles with a power of up to 35 kW. These vehicles must also have a weight/power ratio of not greater than 0.2 kg/kW and must not be built from a vehicle that has twice the power of the maximum.
If you have passed a two-part moped or lower category motorcycle test from the 1st of July 1996, then you are able to skip the theory test and only take the practical exam. You can use a small scooter, or moped fitted with L plates,
Prawo Jazdy B1 or you can obtain the new AM licence which allows you to ride bikes up to 50cc with a top-speed of 45mph. The AM licence is valid if you've passed the theory test, and have completed nine hours of training at a driving school.
Four-wheeled vehicles
This category covers all
prawo jazdy na motor vehicles with four wheels that aren't passenger cars or buses. It also includes utility vehicles such as vans, pickups and panels. Also included are campers, motor homes and lorries. This category also includes vehicles such as hearses, ambulances, and carryalls that are designed to carry eight or more people or have a maximum mass of 750kg or more. Drivers with an A1 license are able to drive vehicles of this type with trailers that have the maximum authorized mass of up to 750kg.
You must have passed the theory test to be able drive a vehicle in this category. You will need to complete 12 90-minute lessons on the basic material, as well as 4 90-minute lessons on the additive (category AA2). The test for the theory requires an 80% minimum score%.
After passing the theory test, you will have to take a practical driving exam on both private and public roads. After passing both tests, you will be issued an application for your driving license. This request should be submitted to the local authority within three years after passing your practical test.
After passing your driving test, you can begin driving vehicles in the category A2. In certain countries, after holding an A1 license for two years, there is no need to take an additional test to get an A2 driving license, which allows you to operate motorcycles up 35 kW. This allows you to get familiar with less powerful two-wheelers before upgrading to more powerful machines.
If you hold a driving licence in category A2, you are able to drive a tricycle as long as it has an engine capacity of 125cc, and a maximum power output of 11kW. This category was previously part of the A license. Drivers who were issued with the full category B license before 19 January 2013 were able to ride mopeds, too and retain this right.
Motor vehicles with five or more wheels
This category includes vehicles equipped with motors that are designed to be used on roads to transport goods or passengers. These vehicles should include at least two or three wheels that are in contact with ground, a driver's seat or saddle, and a motor able to achieve speeds of 20 miles an hour or more. These vehicles are usually equipped with a steering wheel and brakes. They also have the capability to be steered in a normal direction, and can also travel in reverse. In some cases, these vehicles have a hood or other covering that can be opened. Historically, this classification has used to describe trucks (van mini-vans, mini-vans, panel, pickup, sport utility) and buses that hold 16 or more passengers. However, a different set of federal regulations governing uniform licensing standards for commercial vehicle drivers follows a slightly different definition that excludes vehicles that have gross weight ratings of more than 26,001 pounds.
In addition to this, the category A2 driving license may also be used to operate a moped, motor-driven bicycle, or motorcycle. This type of license is only valid if the cylinder volume and the power of the motor are not greater than 125 cubic centimeters and 15 kilowatts, respectively. This license can also be used for driving motor tricycles. This license class requires a minimum age of 16 years old. Physically disabled people may be granted a provisional right to ride category A1 or A motor tricycles.
Some people choose to obtain an operator license, which is valid for vehicles with an authorized maximum weight of 3,500kg, and up to eight seats. Drivers with an operator license are also permitted to tow trailers which weigh up to 750kg MAM. They can also transport a trailer as heavy as 3,500kg with a tractor or construction equipment.
NHTSA must ensure that its guidelines remain up-to-date as the designs of various types of three-wheeled or two-wheeled vehicles continue to evolve. Manufacturers, importers, and import experts frequently seek clarifications from the agency on the proper classification of vehicles. As a result, NHTSA has created a variety of guidelines to determine the classification of these vehicles. These guidelines include:
Motor vehicles with trailers
Category A2 includes motor vehicles that have trailers. These are not vehicles pulled by the driver, but are towed behind larger vehicles such as cars. This category includes, for instance the tractor that tows trailers, or smaller trucks designed to transport loads, such as the ones used by plumbers and painters to transport tools and supplies to the site of work. The maximum mass that can be authorized (MAM) in this category is 8,250kg.
To drive a vehicle in this class, you must have completed the theory test for category A1 or have obtained a driver's license through direct entry. You may also have to pass a driving test, based on the type of vehicle you intend to drive.
The license you are issued for category A2 is valid for three years from the date you take your theory test. To keep it valid, you must renew it before the expiration date.
In addition to the categories above, you can obtain a license to drive other vehicles that have special requirements. For example, you need a special license to drive a large goods vehicle, which is classed as a category C. This requires a knowledge of specific regulations for the transportation of hazardous items.
A car driving licence in category B will allow you to drive two vehicles and a trailer that doesn't fit the conditions of category C. This is where code 96 is used. To drive such a vehicle you must have an driving license for category B for at least two years and pass the theory test and the practical test for this category. To be certified you must have taken a special course of instruction and also received additional instruction. This course is referred to as the driver's training course.
